Summer Interns

An unforgettable adventure...

"I wanted to take a risk going across the country for the summer and it paid off. … It was an amazing developmental experience and I was able to grow in so many ways. We were given so many opportunities to be creative and implement new things because Tina was willing to let us have those opportunities. She pushed us to be creative and encouraged us to give the job everything we had. …Of course, the summer was not all about the job. … We got to travel Alaska and see things we have never seen before. Tina and Elizabeth wanted us to do more than just work; they wanted us to fully experience the wonders of Alaska. The people were so nice and friendly, the food was delicious, and the sights were like you will never see again. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I would do it again in a heartbeat if I had the chance."
–Andrea, Hospitality Intern, Summer '11

"When I first got the offer to participate in an internship experience in Alaska I was very excited to live in a new place and start a new chapter of my life. What I did not expect/think was that a year and a half after my internship, I would be living in Alaska and working at the University of Alaska Anchorage full time. ... I could not be happier with the decision to first intern here and to now start the next phase of my life in the Last Frontier. ... I learned so much during my experience, from supervising 25+ student staff members to the ins and outs of Residence Life. There was not a day that went by that we did not have an Alaskan adventure, whether it was avoiding moose on campus, hikes after work, or rafting a Class 5 rapid. I had such a phenomenal experience and know future interns will too"
-Jess, Hospitality Intern, Summer '09.
