Fire Sprinkler Designer (Anchorage)

We are currently seeking candidates for a fire sprinkler designer/trainee. The fire protection systems designer position assumes a key role in fire protection systems design, installation and coordination of the fire systems. We are willing to train the correct individual for the job but the successful candidate must have a desire to learn and be looking for a lifelong career.

Requirements:

  • General computer knowledge and skills are required
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD required; HydraCAD, and /or SprinkCAD experience a plus
  • Nicet Certification a plus
  • Related experience in commercial, industrial, and residential design
  • Proven ability performing similar work in a timely manner and meeting deadlines
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Must have good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate and work effectively with others
  • Willingness to learn and grow professionally

Responsibilities:

  • Design fire protection projects, perform hydraulic calculations, and have on-site coordination responsibility to ensure a successful outcome for our customers and the company
  • Review construction contract documents and coordinate with sub-contractors and General Contractor/owner to gather the required information to design the project's sprinkler system
  • Through use of analytical thinking and problem solving, determine construction feasibility and systems possibilities
  • Create detailed drawings through extensive use of software tools such as AutoCAD, SprinkCAD, and HydraCAD
  • Develop initial schedules for preliminary project work
  • Maintain design historical records for future use
  • Develop caring and enduring relationships with customers to ensure company is meeting customers' expectations
  • Coordinate with other departments within office to ensure proper transfer of job information

Pay Range:
Pay depends on your level of experience and education.

UAA Wins First at ASC Regions 6 Student Competition

The UAA Competition Team placed first in the Region 6 Commercial Construction Category of the 24th Annual ASC Regions 6 & 7 Student Competition. This year, there were over 1,100 students competing on 173 teams, from 43 universities and 18 states.
