2010 Non-destructive Testing Boot Camp

UAA is offering an intensive Non‐Destructive Testing (NDT) instructional program to existing and/or potential employees of our industry partners. This is a follow‐up to the successful 2009 NDT Summer Boot Camp. This spring, NDT Boot Camp will start in January 2010. This program is intensive in nature and students must be prepared for a challenging workload. Enhanced student support and quality instruction is provided, but the onus will remain on the student to succeed.

2009 NDT Boot Camp Graduates Flier

UAA's Transportation and Power Division, part of the Community and Technical College, offered an intense 15-week Nondestructive Technology (NDT) Boot Camp in Summer 2009.
UAA created the boot camp in response to industry requests for more nondestructive testing technicians. NDT technicians are responsible for checking the integrity of materials using x-rays, ultrasound and magnetic particle testing.

The program began April 6 and ended on July 22. A celebration was held on July 22 to honor the seven students who completed the program. Kakivik Asset Management, an organization specializing in nondestructive testing and inspection, offered employment to all students who completed the program.

The Transportation & Power Division intends to offer the Boot Camp again in 2010.
