Current Class schedule

Banner Navigation

In this session you'll learn how to log on and off, about menus and forms, how to get around within and between forms, and about commonly used functions. Most of this session is hands-on. Navigation training is meant to prepare users for additional area-specific training in Banner (see below).

This class (or the Banner Navigation class from the student trainer) is required before you can sign up for the Finance Querying, Requisition 1 and 2, and HR Querying. (If the Banner Navigation session listed here does not fit your schedule, you may be able to attend a Banner Navigation session offered by the Banner Student Information trainer.)

Please see Charese's Schedule.

Banner Finance Querying

This session gives an overview of the University's Finance system. You'll learn how to query financial activity, track transactions, check your budget availability and reconcile your budget to Banner. (Prerequisite: Banner Navigation or experience using Banner.) Also has information on how to get monthly finance and HR reports from the Financial Systems website/Vista Plus

 July 17 Thursday 9am-11am UC119

DSD Webqueries (Qmenu/Qadhoc) & Vista Plus

This training demonstrates a user-friendly web site developed by statewide to access "Banner" data (RPTS data). The workshop looks at Finance, Human Resources and Student data, and is both presentation and hands-on. The web site will allow users to look up Class Lists (Student data), Encumbrance Lists (Finance data), Leave Accrual information (Human Resources data), produce address labels and lots more. (Please note: it is not possible to access grades, GPA or Financial Aid information via this website.) Training is targeted at both faculty and staff. (Prerequisites: none, although it is helpful if you've used a Web browser like Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.)

This class also covers Vista Plus, which is a client server application for distributing, viewing and managing reports online. It allows the University to automatically capture reports as they are generated and store them in a central reports warehouse. Currently Vista Plus houses Human Resources and Finance reports only

July 30 Wednesday 9am-11am UC119

Databrowser

This class covers how to use Oracle Databrowser to run and create reports from Banner data. We cover all aspects of how to execute built-in reports, format and print reports, and export them to Microsoft Excel. We also cover how to build your own reports (which is what makes this tool so much more powerful than Qmenu / Vista Plus). Training is targeted at both faculty and staff. (Prerequisites: Basic Banner knowledge)

Please also note this tool can also be quite complex. Some knowledge of SQL (Structured Query Language) is helpful, though certainly not required.
