In addition to our work in faculty development, institutional research, and service learning and community-based research, the division also develops independent projects to engage UAA with national initiatives or link it more strongly to the community.  The projects may vary from year to year, but all of them involve outreach, and most of them cross disciplinary boundaries to impact the entire university.

Our proudest and most ambitious accomplishment has been our leadership in the Ford Foundation Difficult Dialogues initiative.  From our first grant in 2006 until now, we have energized faculty across UAA to develop activities and exercises where students can express themselves freely on a variety of contentious issues.  We are a national leader in this area.
And our “Warriors for a New Era” initiative, targeted to Alaska Native Student Development
We are also the campus liaison for Opportunities for Lifelong Education (OLE)

UAA Community Campaign, which raises funds for local nonprofits through the United Way and Alaska Community Share.

Below are links to our projects and initiatives.
