USUAA Sustainability Committee hosts 2nd Annual Sustainability Fair

Fair will share how individuals can better contribute to sustainability efforts

ANCHORAGE, AK – The Union of Students at University of Alaska Anchorage (USUAA) Sustainability Committee is proud to present the 2nd Annual Sustainability Fair on Saturday, March 29th in the Student Union on the UAA campus.  With this year’s theme being, “Sustainability and You,” emphasis will be placed on the actions individuals can take to become more sustainable themselves.  

Participants who bring a bag filled with recyclable materials or gently used clothing will be entered in a drawing to win prizes including an iPod nano.


The events are to include:
  • Lectures featuring Jeff Welker on climate change, Michael Ableman on sustainability and food, Doug Fine on living without oil, and Chris Rennau on personal energy
  • Workshops on green investing, recycling, and bike tune-ups
  • Feature length films as well as film shorts
  • Music from Jared Woods and Strept
  • Booths with information from local businesses and organizations
The Sustainability Fair is free and open to the public and runs from 10am to 6pm.  Sponsors for this event include: USUAA, The Northern Light, Student Activities, University Media Group, and UAA Culinary Arts & Hospitality Program.  For more information call 786-1205 or contact Marcus Welker at marcuson2@hotmail.com.
