Frequently Asked Questions
Why doesn't my certificate display my current enrollment?
UAA may not have reported the data for the most current term to the Clearinghouse yet. Your verification shows the date UAA last sent enrollment records to the Clearinghouse and the term that the data covered. New enrollment data is typically available after the add/drop period has passed for the semester. Since many students change registration frequently within the first two weeks, we continue to update Clearinhouse weekly - this can take between 7-10 days to show up, please keep checking. If the current term was not included, contact National Student Clearinghouse at service@studentclearinghouse.org they can tell you when UAA is scheduled to send its next enrollment record report and when the incoming data will be available.
The enrollment history on my certificate is incorrect. How can I correct this information?
If it is incorrect, contact the Office of the Registrar at 907-786-1480 to confirm and correct your enrollment information. UAA will update the Clearinghouse system with your correct information. The Clearinghouse can only change its records based on information supplied by the school.
State of Alaska PFD Education Verifications
National Student Clearinghouse verifications are not sufficient for the Alaska PFD verification. Submit PFD education verification forms to the for processing. Forms completed by UAA are mailed directly to the Department of Revenue.
Student Loan Deferment Status
Most enrolled students will have deferments electronically processed by their loan holders, if they are eligible. However, it is possible that the loan holder or servicer could send you a deferment form. If so, you should take the deferment form to the where it will be forwarded to the Clearinghouse for processing. (Do NOT send the form to the Clearinghouse directly; it must go through the registrar's office first.)
You can login from the UAOnline secure student portal to check the deferment forms and electronic notifications that have been sent to your loan holders.
If you are still in school and receive a repayment letter, you should contact the loan holder or servicer to verify that the deferment has been processed. If it has not, contact National Student Clearinghouse at service@studentclearinghouse.org to request assistance.
If you are on active military duty, including reservists, you may not be required to make student loan payments while you are deployed.
If you have an outstanding student loan and are, or soon will be, on active military duty, you should:
- Contact your lender to inform them about your active duty status and find out what options are available to you while you are on active military duty.
- If you have taken out loans, even if they are not yet in repayment, you must take action. Otherwise your loans will automatically move to repayment while you are away.
- Your personal copy of your student loan records is the best place to identify all your lenders and their contact information.
