Non-Degree Seeking Students

If you would like to take classes, you will need to apply to the university as a non-degree seeking student (this is free). It can take 2-3 days for approval. Go to UAOnline to and choose 'Apply for Admission'.

Click here for instructions on how to apply to be a non-degree seeking student.

Finding your UAA ID

Once you have applied for admission as a non-degree seeking student you will need your UAA student ID. This can be found in UAOnline under 'Login to Secured Area' or by clicking on the link me.uaa.alaska.edu.

Registering for Classes

All registration takes place through UAOnline. Once you login to UAOnline, go to the Student Services & Account Information tab, click Registration, and then choose Register/Add/Drop Classes and select term. You will need the CRN (Course Reference Number) for the course you wish to add.

Prerequisites

Some courses require prerequisites to be met in order to register for the course. If you are a non-UAA student our system may require a prerequisite override because UAA may not have a record of your transcripts from other institutions. Students must contact the department to get a prerequisite override.

Dropping Classes

Students with full refund should drop classes as soon as they know they will not be attending or fees may apply. This last day to drop from classes is posted on the UAA website under Dates and Deadlines. In order to drop classes, students need to login to UAOnline, fill out an Add/Drop form OR use the drop feature on the UAA website prior to the established dates and deadlines. Students can view courses which they are registered, have dropped, or have withdrawn from through UAOnline.

Withdraw

After the add/drop deadline, students may still withdraw from courses as long as they withdraw before the deadline posted in Dates and Deadlines on the UAA website. Students will be responsible for all fees and tuition if they choose to withdraw from any courses.

Holds

Students can check UAOnline to see if there is a hold on their record. Students with a hold will not be allowed to register until the hold is cleared. It is the students responsibility to contact the department that has placed the hold on their account and the department must take off the hold before the student will be allowed to register.

Your UAA Email

Once you have been admitted as a non-degree seeking student you will receive a UAA student email account. UAA communicates with all students primarily via email. Check it often. You can access our email through UAOnline with a link at the bottom of the page.
