The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) is located in Suite 115 in the Administration Building and is open during normal business hours from 8am - 5pm.
OSP facilitates externally funded research and programs in all units within UAA, including those of the community campuses, through coordination of institutional review of all proposals prior to submission. As a focal point for sponsored programs pre-award activities, the office helps coordinate communications and training for research administration throughout UAA. It provides a liaison between academic programs and Grants and Contracts.
The OSP web outlines our services, policies, regulations and gives helpful information related to proposal preparation and submission. It also provides links to sponsor organizations and guidelines and much more.
Project Development
Project development is generally the role of the faculty/researcher as facilitated and guided by academic leadership. Specific grant applications and proposals are authored by faculty or by small groups of researchers often in response to requests for proposals (RFPs) or program solicitations, but may be generated for consideration by sponsors without any solicitation. Discovery and distribution of information regarding RFPs and other grant or contract opportunities is a shared responsibility of the faculty and of the administration supporting research at all levels within the institution (please reference Sponsored Required Information when you prepare your proposals).
Proposal Submission
Proposals must be routed through appropriate institutional signatures before submission to OSP. Each unit/department has its own procedure for internal routing, fiscal review, and Dean/Director approval. Some units provide proposal coordinators, and administrative support for their faculty with proposal preparation. Faculty should allow sufficient time for the necessary reviews. Assistance in the form of pre-submission reviews by faculty mentors or other experts dramatically increases the chances of an award. OSP requests that you submit the completed proposal to them at least 5 days prior to the submittal deadline.
Proposals routed to OSP for institutional authorization on or near the deadline for submission, especially those
committing significant institutional resources cost sharing, will not be accommodated. If you have any questions regarding proposal submissions, please contact OSP.
