The Responsible Conduct of Research Committee is a federally mandated misconduct committee for institutions as set forth in 42 CRF Part 93 (CFR = Code of Federal Regulations). This rule is posted and can be viewed on the Office of Research Integrity (ORI) website at http://ori.dhhs.gov/.
The Board of Regents Regulation R10.07.06 states: "Misconduct" includes fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, or other practices that deviate from ethical standards and practices commonly accepted within the academic and scientific community for proposing, conducting, or reporting research, scholarly work, or creative activity. Honest error or honest differences in analysis, interpretation or judgments of data will not be considered to be instances of misconduct. The Regents' policies on ethics can be viewed here.

Scientific Misconduct is a statement regarding Board of Regents and regulations for the University of Alaska pertaining to research misconduct.
Another resource that may be of interest is entitled Analysis of Institutional Policies for Responding to Allegations of Scientific Misconduct that was done for the Office of Research Integrity by CHPS Consulting.
It is recommended that all researchers take the Reponsible Conduct of Research (RCR) CITI training course offered to all UAA faculty, staff and students.
