quiero empezar así de esta manera para nuestros amigos de África.

Hola amigos de Ghana, Africa. Somos un grupo de religiosos cubanos residentes en el pueblo de Perico, provincia de Matanzas, donde primero
llegaron los esclavos aquí a nuestra isla de cuba y queremos através de
uds que nos respondan algunas preguntas.

Hello friends, finally some of the questions…I want to start this way for our friends in Africa.

Hello friends from Ghana, Africa, we are a group of religious Cubans, residents of the town of Perico, province of Matanzas, where the slaves first arrived on the island of Cuba, and we would like to ask you some questions.

1. Como es la vida de los religiosos en Ghana ? Tienen alguna prohibición de
practicarla.
2. Dígannos algunas historias sobre  Arara en Ghana?
3. Pueden decirnos la deidad, o el santo que mas les gusta y le pide la
poblacion en Ghana  por que, y que significa para ellos?

4. Que atributo utiliza el dios Hebioso, que animal se le sacrifica y en
que fecha del año es su dia.

5. Pueden hablarnos del Arara en Ghana?  Pueden decirnos de su futuro.?


6. Hay muchos jóvenes que practican esta religión? Que opiniones tienen de
ellos y de como la llevan en si?
7. Si conocieron algunos de sus antepasados, dígannos historias, si tenian
alguna deidad y como la llevaban consigo, y su responsabilidad y respeto
hacia el o ella.
8. Solamente ahí en Ghana se practica y se hace fiesta de Arara?

9. Existió o existe alguna diosa o princesa en Ghana, que practicaba el
Arara, como se llamaba o se llama?
10. Algunos de Uds. seguramente entran en trance, pueden decirme que se
siente cuando se está con el orisha?
11. Por ejemplo, con el dios Hebiosos de que color es el traje que utiliza y
atributos que se le pone?
12. Existe alguna ceremonia que hacen a la hora de tocar el tambor? Nos las
pueden decir?
13. Las consagraciones en arara todavía se hacen,? Si se puede decir, por
favor dígannos algo de lo que se hace.
14. Existen en Ghana tantas religiones como aquí en cuba? Aqie tenemos el lucumi, el
arara, el palo, por citar algunos; en su país existe lo mismo, se llevan
bien todos o hay rivalidades?
15. En Perico, San Lázaro es un dios que muchos lo tienen aquí por los
ancentros del antepasado y a el cual la gente le pide mucho, por ser un
santo milagroso y de mucha fe, su celebración es el dia 17 de diciembre...
a cual es el dios que mas le piden ahí en Ghana?
16. Cuantas deidades tienen y dígannos en que fecha y mes del año le hacan
sus celebraciones, o sea sus actividades.

17. Cuando le tocan alguna deidad, como lo hacen aquí, primeramente se le
sacrifican animales, el pueblo viene y come, y después  se le hace un altar
al dios con frutas y dulces y demás; como lo hacen Uds.? Igual? Explíquenos, por favor.


18. En las actividades que hacen (toques), participa el pueblo como tal,
cantan, bailan?
19. Hay algunas enseñanzas de sus antepasados, que quieran compartir con
nosotros que Uds. piensan nos gustaría escuchar?
20. En un futuro nos gustaría que algunos de Uds. vengan de vista a Cuba y
vean las fiestas y  como se hacen aquí, es posible?  Nosotros haríamos mismo y no dejar caer jamás estas cosas tan bellas e interesantes de
nuestras cultura afro, que nos han dejado nuestros antepasados.   Por parte nuestra, como cubanos que somos jamás la dejaremos de practicarla, ya que eso va de generación en generación y luchamos por que en un futuro
sea mucho mejor.
21. Les agradecemos de todo corazón a través de nuestros grandes amigos Jill y
Brandon esta grande cooperación por un futuro nuestro y de hacer saber al
mundo de nuestra indosincracia  y de nuestra cultura afrocubana, que
practican Uds. y nosotros aquí.

   Muchísimas gracias desde Cuba, sus hermanos religiosos de Matanzas, Cuba donde primero
desenbarcaron los esclavos en Latinoamérica.

1. What is life like for religious people in Ghana? Is there any prohibition in practicing the religion?
2. Tell us some stories about Arara in Ghana.
3. Can you tell us the deity, the saint that is most loved and prayed to by the people in Ghana, and why, what does it mean to them?
4. What is the symbol or attribute of the deity Hebioso, which animal is sacrificed for him, and what day of the year is his day?
5. Can you tell us about Arara in Ghana?  And can you tell us of its future?
6. Are there many young people practicing the religion and what do they feel about how they carry it on?
7. If they knew any of their ancestors, tell us stories, if they had any deity and how they keep him and honor him, and their responsibilities and respect towards him.
8. Is it only in Ghana that Arara is practiced and celebrated?
9. Was there or is there a deity or princess in Ghana that practiced Arara, what was or is her name?
10. Some of you surely enter into trance.  Can you tell me what you feel when you are with the orisha?
11. For example, with respect to the deity Hebioso, what color is the suit he wears and what are the attributes (symbols) that are assigned to him?
12. Is there any particular ceremony that is performed at the time the drums are played, can you tell us?
13. The consecrations in Arara that are still performed, if you could tell us please, something about how they are done.
14. Are there in Ghana as many religions as here in Cuba, Lukumi, Arara, Palo?  Can you cite some in your country, are they all practiced, or are there rivalries?
15. In Perico San Lazaro is a god that many people possess as a result of the ancestors of the past, and the people here pray to him a lot because he is a miraculous saint.  His day is celebrated with strong faith on the 17^th of December.  Which is the god who is most prayed to there in Ghana?
16. How many deities do you have, and tell us on what date and month of the year you celebrate them, or perform their activities?
17. When a particular deity is celebrated, how is it done?  Here first animals are sacrificed, the people come and after an altar is made for the god with fruits and sweets and such.  How do you do it, is it the same, explain it to us please.
18. During the activities (toques), does the community participate with singing and dancing?
19. Are there some teachings of your ancestors that you would like to share with us, that we would like to hear?
20. In the future we would like it if some of you could come and visit Cuba and see the celebrations and how we do them.  Is that possible?  And we would do the same, and never allow these beautiful and interesting things to fade from our African culture, things that our ancestors have left us, and for our part, Cubans will never stop practicing them, now that this is passed from generation to generation, and we fight for a better future.
