Seawolf Opportunities Scholarship
The purpose of the Seawolf Opportunities Scholarship is to provide financial assistance for tuition and other education expenses, including housing, licensed childcare, and 'Wolfbucks', to degree-seeking students at the University of Alaska Anchorage or any of UAA's Community campuses. The goal of this fund is to provide scholarship assistance to associate and baccalaureate degree students for up to four consecutive years. Therefore, scholarship recipients must continue to meet the minimum qualifications throughout their degree program. Provided the recipients remain eligible, the award will be renewed for up to four consecutive years.
Additional Award Information:The tuition waiver component of this scholarship, awards tuition, not flat "dollars" for approved UAA courses, during the semester of the award. Waivers do not cover student fees, such as, but not limited to: Student Life, Student Transportation, Student Government, Student Media, Student Concert Program, Technology, health center fees, parking fees, etc.
The childcare component of this award requires dated, written verification from your licensed childcare provider, on letterhead or official stationary, showing monthly daycare charges. Final proof of semester childcare expenses may be requested at the end of the term, in the event the student is participating in a 'drop-off' contract. Providing false or misleading information may result in reversal of current or suspension of future scholarship awards.
Recipients must earn the standard amount of credits before being awarded the next class standing's award:
The tuition award portion of this scholarship pays second to other tuition-based award/aid (i.e. UAA tuition waivers from departments get applied first)
Community campus recipients may request the housing allowance for documented off-campus housing rental expenses up to $2000 if the campus does not offer on-campus housing. Students attending a campus in which on-campus housing is offered are not able to use the housing bonus for off-campus housing costs under any circumstance.
Forfeiture of the award will occur if the recipient does not attend during the first fall semester for which the award is offered.
