The Seawolf Debate Program, housed in the Department of Communication and Discourse Studies, is a co-curricular program dedicated to promoting public discourse for UAA students and its larger Alaskan community.  The program is guided by its commitment to two goals: excellence in competitive intercollegiate debating and the promotion of public discourse.

Is Classical Music Dead? UAA v. Oxford Debate

The internationally recognized UAA Seawolf Debate Program takes on top-ranked Oxford for an intense look at our obligation to support the arts –or not. Squaring off over the motion "Classical music deserves no support beyond what the market will provide," the debaters will advocate for and against public funding for the arts. Celebrity judges, but you'll render the final verdict with voting by cell phone.
