I get my period once every three months because of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and my cramps are SO bad! I feel like it hurts so bad that it makes me want to skip class and just go home and sleep, and that's with midol and a heating pad. What can I do to not feel so drained for 7 days and not skip class? I eat healthy and get enough rest. Any recommendations? Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is always a major hot topic; please see additional questions listed under Womens Health on this topic. You may want to see your health care provider, or make an appointment at the SHCC to develop a treatment plan for your PCOS and dysmenorrhea (painful periods). This may involve starting on oral contraceptives to prevent the endometrial hyperplasia (a build-up in the lining of the uterus) and to promote more regular lighter periods. This might be all you need to make life much more pleasant and productive. Make an appointment today!
