Question for Betty.

I have been having these sharp lower abdominal pains near my cervix and it's getting to the point where it hurts so bad I can't even stand up straight.  I don't get my periods at the same time each month, so I'm assuming it's just PMS.  If I don't get my period soon though, could it be something else?  Something serious?  Please let me Know!

Worsening abdominal pain should always be taken seriously. Contact your health care provider or the SHCC for an appointment as soon as possible.  Other worrisome symptoms are fever, nausea or vomiting, and unrelieved abdominal pain.  If this is the case it is time to go to the Emergency Room or Urgent Care. Lower severe abdominal pain may be sign of appendicitis, an ectopic pregnancy, pelvic inflammatory disease, an ovarian cyst, a bladder infection or bowel problems. Yes, I would take this seriously.
