The Alaska WWAMI School of Medical Education would like to thank all the attendees, sponsors, faculty, staff, and volunteers for making the 2012 PreMed Summit a successful event.
The 7th Annual Alaska PreMed Summit was held on Saturday, March 24 from 9:00am to 4:00pm in the Rasmuson Hall (RH) on the UAA campus. The purpose of the Alaska PreMed Summit was to provide information to anyone wanting to learn more about the process of becoming a physician. It was especially helpful for undergraduate and high school students, but non-traditional students, high school counselors, college advisors, and parents also benefited from the information that was presented.
Participants of the 7th Annual Alaska PreMed Summit welcomed the opportunity to:
- Listen to keynote speaker Judd Walson, MD, University of Washington Assistant Professor, speak on "Global Health Perspective on Medicine."
- Hear physicians Rick Navitsky, MD and Tany Leinicke, MD speak about "Being a Physician, a Passport to the World".
- Listen to Todd Capistrant, DO speak about "Osteopathy: a Medical Career Choice".
- Participate in a mock medical school interview.
- Learn about preparing for the MCAT with Kaplan representative, Matt Rouse.
- Tour the Alaska WWAMI Program facilities.
