COE student honored with the Kathleen McCartan Award for service in the field of early childhood education for exceptional children

The College of Education is proud to announce that Carrie Plant, M.Ed. in Early Childhood Special Education, Summer 2009, received the Kathleen W. McCartan Award from the Division for Early Childhood (DEC) of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). This award is given to an undergraduate or master's level student who has made significant contributions through service to the field, community and professional organizations. It is given in memory of Kathleen McCartan who was a leader in the field of personnel preparation and served for many years on the Executive Board of DEC. Carrie will be honored at the 25th Annual International Conference on Young Children with Special Needs and Their Families held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in October.
