Fall 2009: Anthropology Club sponsors lecture by Dr. Debra L. Martin, arguing that slaving practices in the American Southwest predated European contact
by Kathleen McCoy |
Today, Oct. 30, 3-4 p.m.
Beatrice McDonald Hall (BMH), Room 104
Professor Martin will speak on new bioarchaeological evidence indicating that pre-state societies in the American Southwest practiced a wide range of abduction and slaving practices. Dr. Martin will argue that endemic warfare, raiding, abduction and slavery far predated European contact in the region.
This lecture is free and open to the public. The Anthropology Club will provide complimentary snacks and soda. Parking is free on campus on Fridays.
