Book enthusiast and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Michael Dirda to present 2011 Freshman Convocation keynote address

Michael Dirda, Pulitzer Prize-winning book critic from The Washington Post, will be coming to UAA this week to welcome the incoming class of freshmen as the keynote speaker of the 2011 Freshman Convocation event. Then, on Sunday, Aug. 28, at 4 p.m. at the Loussac Library, Dirda will present a free public lecture on the topic of "READING MATTERS: How Books Can Change Your Life." A book signing and reception will immediately follow the lecture. Michael Dirda has authored several books, including An Open Book: Coming of Age in the Heartland and Bound to Please.

This free lecture is co-sponsored by the UAA Honors College and the Anchorage Library Foundation in celebration of Freshman Convocation and the Loussac Public Library's 25th anniversary.
