 The mission of the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) is to produce Air Force leaders and to build better citizens for America.

UAA's AFROTC recruits, educates, and commissions officer candidates through college campus programs built on Air Force requirements. There are more than 140 college and university campus programs throughout the United States.

Minor, National Defense, Strategic Studies, and Leadership: Air Force Emphasis

Students majoring in another subject who wish to minor in National Defense, Strategic Studies and Leadership: Air Force Focus, must complete the following requirements. 

  • A minimum of 20 credits are required for the minor, 12 of which must be upper division.
  • Students must earn at least 6 credits in residence in this field.
  • They must also earn a UAA cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (B).
  • Students must complete the program’s upper division coursework in its entirety.
  • Students must declare this minor utilizing the declaration of a minor form on the UAA website no later than the deadline to submit an application for graduation.

General Eligibility Requirements

To join the AFROTC you must:

  • Be a full-time student at a school offering AFROTC
  • Be in good physical condition
  • Have a good moral character
  • Be at least 14-years of age

To receive an AFROTC Scholarship you must:

  • Be at least 17 years of age
  • Be a US citizen
