Dental Hygiene Admission Requirements & Procedure
The admittance process is competitive. The information given here is for general guidance only. Completion of the admission requirements does not guarantee selection into the Dental Hygiene Program. Due to accreditation requirements, class size is limited to 12-14 positions. Some fully qualified applicants may not be accepted. All applicants must meet with the Dental Hygiene Program advisor to review the applicant file and current selection criteria. The Dental Hygiene Program application deadline is the first Friday of May; it can be found posted on the dental hygiene program homepage. Applicants transfering credit from another institution are encouraged to apply to UAA no later than October 1st of the year priot to the May Dental Hygiene deadline. This allows sufficient time for application processing and transcript evaluation to be completed by the application deadline. Spring enrollment in another institution may postpone transcript evaluation and therefore affect program application acceptance. Minimum Requirements for Consideration for Admission must be on file at the UAA Dental Programs by the application deadline:
If you have attended a school other than the University of Alaska Anchorage, be aware that processing time for an application to UAA is at least four (4) weeks. Also, allow at least 12 weeks to process transcript evaluations. UAA enrollment application after November 1 will be viewed as summer enrollment and transcripts may not be evaluated by the application deadline. The applicant should contact Enrollment Services at 907-786-1480 for questions concerning the application to UAA and/or transcript evaluation. **CPR certification is a program requirement (healthcare provider adult/infant/child with AED certification). Certification must be accredited by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. We recommend 2 year cretification if possible. Students must maintain certification throughout the program. Students are also required to have and maintain health insurance throughout the program as well as good dental health. Selection Criteria
