Last Frontier Theatre Conference Calls for Plays

By: Dawson Moore  Nov 7, 2005

The Last Frontier Theatre Conference has released its Call for Plays for the 2006 Play Lab. The Conference, which yearly receives hundreds of play submissions from all over the world, takes place from June 17 to 24, 2006. Selected plays receive staged readings at the Conference, with feedback sessions led by theatre professionals.

The largest change to this year’s Play Lab is the acceptance of full-length play submissions, which had been eliminated in 2005 to create a one-tier Play Lab, as opposed to the previous three years which had featured separate long and short Labs. This year will feature plays from 10 minutes to 2 hours in length, all presented in the same program.

The submission guidelines are as follows:
  • Plays must be received by February 1, 2006
  • Plays must have a running time between ten minutes and two hours.
  • Submissions can not have received a professional production, although readings and amateur productions are acceptable.
  • No musicals are accepted.
  • Plays can be submitted via e-mail to dmoore@pwscc.edu, or mailed to: PWSCC; Theatre Conference; PO Box 97; Valdez AK  99686. E-mail submissions are preferred.
  • Submissions should include a 100-word third person author bio and a photo of the author.
Plays presented at the Conference have gone on to productions throughout Alaska and the rest of the United States due to the exposure received there. More details about this year’s Conference are available at www.pwscc.edu <http://www.pwscc.edu/> .

Questions can be addressed to Conference Coordinator, Dawson Moore, at 907-834-1614 or dmoore@pwscc.edu.
