Egan scholarship established By: University Advancement Dec 19, 2005 On Thursday, December 15, a group gathered in UAA’s Cuddy Hall Dining Room to celebrate the establishment of a new scholarship in memory of Alaska’s first governor, William A. Egan. The scholarship is intended for a student in political science or history on the Anchorage campus or at Prince William Sound Community Campus, or one enrolled in the 49th State Scholars program, UAA’s new honors program option. More than $28,000 was raised through the generosity of close friends and relatives of the Egan family and the University to start the fund. The reception was intended to celebrate not only the scholarship itself, but also the achievements and memories of late governor Egan that make his a worthy name for this scholarship.
Shown here from left to right are: Trudy Cain, Joe Henri, John Alexander, John Kelsey, Elaine Maimon, John Havelock, Eric Wohlforth.
Not shown in this photo but connected by speaker phone to the reception were: Neva and Dennis Egan, Bill Egan’s widow and son.
