Biography

Marissa is a distinguished healthcare simulation professional with a two-decade-long career spanning academia and healthcare programs. Her journey began with instructional design where she garnered skills in graphic design, digital media production, and multimedia authoring tools. Mastery of online course management systems and resource organization laid the foundation for a seamless transition into her role in simulation technology in education.

Marissa coordinates and determines training needs and oversees complex organizational development initiatives. She is involved with policy development, budget management, staff supervision, needs assessment, research, program evaluation, and consultation with program leadership and external stakeholders. Her internal and external interactions culminate in designing and delivering excellence in facilitating exceptional learner and faculty experiences. 

With a comprehensive background in healthcare simulation, Marissa has played pivotal roles in designing and implementing learner-centric simulation experiences that prioritize psychological safety and foster an environment where high-quality service delivery aligns with the evolving needs of healthcare education. Her efforts aim to elevate the educational experience and outcomes for learners and faculty members, ensuring that the University of Alaska Anchorage remains at the forefront of innovative, effective, and compassionate healthcare education.
