by Michelle Saport  |

Thursday, May 2, 10-11:30 a.m. Alaska Middle College School (10928 Eagle River Road)

The Alaska Middle College School is a partnership between UAA and the Mat-Su Borough School District. The school is an early college program that allows junior and senior Mat-Su students to earn credits toward a UAA Associate of Arts degree while completing their high school diploma. Students take classes that satisfy both high school diploma and UAA general education requirements. The program helps students become college-ready in addition to shortening the time it typically takes to get a degree. Forty-two students are currently registered through the district. Please join the following guests in celebrating the program's successful first year:

  • Patrick Gamble, president, University of Alaska
  • Tom Case, chancellor, University of Alaska Anchorage
  • Karen Schmitt, dean, Community & Technical College
  • Deena Paramo, superintendent, Mat-Su Borough School District
  • Gene Stone, assistant superintendent, Mat-Su Borough School District
  • Ray DePriest, director of Career & Technical Education, Mat-Su Borough School District
