Welcome to the Accreditation 2017 Home Page

From 2008-2010, the University of Alaska Anchorage completed the process to renew our institutional accreditation with the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. This renewal was completed as the university participated as a pilot institution in developing new accreditation standards and processes for the region. The pilot took place on a compressed schedule, completing seven years of reports and site visits over 2009 and 2010. Now that this pilot process is complete, UAA enters the new process. This consists of a seven-year cycle completing reports in the Falls of 2011, 2013, 2015, and 2017.

For more information about the pilot project, please visit the 2010 Pilot page.

UAA submitted its first report to the NWCCU in September 2011. The Year One Report contains Chapter One of the comprehensive self-evaluation report. Chapter One presents UAA's Mission, Core Themes, and Expectations. In it, we describe what the university sets out to do, and how we will use data to make improvements and confirm that we are achieving our mission.

To access the Year One report, please visit the 2017 Reports and Documents page.

In subsequent reports, the university will update prior submissions and add chapters on Resources and Capacity, Planning and Implementation, Effectiveness and Improvement, and Mission Fulfillment, Adaptation, and Sustainability. This cycle will run from 2011 to 2017, with reports in odd years. In addition to reports, there will be site visits in 2013 and 2017.

Current Accreditation Status Update

In April 2012, the Chancellor's Cabinet approved a refined set of accreditation core themes, objectives, and indicators. These changes were in response to recommendations from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.

For more information about the core themes, objectives, and indicators, please visit the Accreditation Core Themes, Objectives, and Indicators page.

Applications are now being accepted for volunteers to serve on Core Theme Evaluation Teams over the Summer of 2012.
