April 3, 2007: The UAA Student Health and Counseling Center presents Spice up Your Sex Life with Dr. Ellen Cole

The UAA Student Health and Counseling Center presents Dr. Ellen Cole, professor of psychology at Alaska Pacific University (APU), who will present a free lecture entitled Spice up Your Sex Life, Sex in the Den on Tuesday, April 3 from noon to 1 p.m. in the Student Union Den.

Dr. Cole is a licensed psychologist and the only nationally certified sex therapist in Alaska.  Cole currently teaches courses in intimacy, relationships and sexuality at APU and also practices private sex therapy for couples.  Her interest in these subjects has led her to authoring and editing several books that include Women and Sex Therapy: Closing the Circle of Sexual Knowledge, Refugee Women and their Mental Health, and Featuring Females: Feminist Analyses of Media, among others.  For 10 years Cole also co-edited the journal Women & Therapy and for 11 years she co-edited the book series Innovations in Feminist Therapy.

Spice up Your Sex Life is one of the Student Health and Counseling Center's free heath education events.  Upcoming events also include: "Reaching and Maintaining a Healthy Body Weight," by Dr. Anne Bridges on Wednesday, April 11 in Student Union 103; "Forget Me Not" breast cancer awareness exhibit on Wednesday, April 18; and a free pasta lunch during finals week on Tuesday, April 24 and Wednesday, April 25.
