Gutter Serfs

by Kathleen McCoy  |

Gutter Serfs: An Exploitation of Urban Culture, is a series of found object paintings and wall murals by contemporary urban painter Theodore Kincaid. Opening on Aug. 28 at 5 to 7 p.m. the exhibit will continue in the UAA Student Union Gallery until Sept. 13. Kincaid combines his rough, tribal scrawl with what he calls the unofficial language of his generation, consisting of graffiti and a style akin to independent comic book art.

In Gutter Serfs, Kincaid explores A Pseudo-Academic Look Into the Violent Emotional Knee-Jerk Reaction of The Naturally Hegemonic Culture Imposed on America's Youth. He has shown at The International Gallery of Contemporary Art, Out North and the MTS Gallery. His work includes murals and promotional design for Bitoz.
