Guitar duo Virtus Unita in Alaska premiere March 25

Their origins are in Europe and in European classical music for the guitar, but now Giovanni Demartini and Roland Stearns, known together as Virtus Unita, will give an Alaska premiere when they perform in UAA's Fine Arts Recital Hall on Tuesday evening, March 25.

Tuesday's recital will present a varied repertoire for guitar duo, trio and quartet, including the work of 18th and 19th century composers such as Fernando Sor (the Spanish "Beethoven of the guitar") and Ferdinand Carulli (Naples-born, self-taught guitarist, favorite of the Parisian salons).
