UAA Student Union Gallery presents Codex Cuniculi by John Wilcox

by Kathleen McCoy  |

Power Table "Codex Cuniculi," works by UAA BFA graduate John Wilcox, opens Thursday, June 19 in the Student Union Gallery and will run through July 3.

"Codex Cuniculi" is a collection of experimental and mixed media drawings from the "Wise Rabbit" series. The series is an exploration in religion, illuminated manuscripts and ancient psychological theory. The appearance of repeated symbols and characters helps to relate a story, the central rabbit figure serving as an "everyman" figure. The message in each piece is left intentionally obscure, as the language, symbols and story are not intended for everyone to understand.

The Student Union Gallery is open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

"Codex Cuniculi" runs June 19-July 3, 2008
