The Center for Advancing Faculty Excellence (CAFE) and The Alaska WWAMI Biomedical Program invite you to attend a presentation on "Faculty Development: Scholars of Education as well as Scholars of Research," with Dr. Robert M. Klein (Professor of Anatomy and Cell Biology, Associate Dean for Professional Development and Faculty Affairs, University of Kansas, School of Medicine).

Please join us for a presentation and open discussion about the best ways to create an academic environment that promotes the faculty development of scholars in teaching as well as scholars in research. Dr. Klein will discuss the role of the scholarship of education in recognizing faculty talent and providing benefit to an academic institution, and review recent attempts by national organizations to define the scholarship of education, peer and student evaluation of teaching, and the concept of an educator's portfolio.

His presentation will be followed by an informal discussion with attendees. Contact Lauren Bruce at aflkb@uaa.alaska.edu for more information.

Please R.S.V.P. to anlkm1@uaa.alaska.edu. A light lunch will be provided.
