Interactive Theatre is a cutting-edge practice being used in higher education institutions throughout the nation to increase student engagement, energize faculty development and improve communication between and among university constituencies.

Please join our guest presenters and your colleagues as we explore these innovative techniques for use in the classroom and beyond.

Today, Feb. 20, 12:30-5 p.m. Faculty/Staff/Students Workshop

Advocacy and Identity: The Power of a Place in a Community
In this workshop, participants will experience and explore Applied Theatre games and exercises, based on the work of Augusto Boal, which can assist community groups, students, educators, facilitators and community-service professionals to examine issues and create change. This session will focus on an exploration of the ways in which we define the communities for which we may be advocating, how we see ourselves in relationship to those communities, and how we attempt to exercise power consistent with that sense of identity. Please wear clothes in which you can move easily.

This is a CAFE special event. For more information and to R.S.V.P., please contact Liisa Morrison at (907) 786-4644 or e-mail her at liisa@uaa.alaska.edu.
