Office of Sustainability off and running

UAA's new Office of Sustainability opened this semester marking an important milestone in the University's drive to become a thoroughly green institution. Paula Williams is our new Sustainability Director. Her office is ULB 110B and she can be contacted at (907) 786-1515 or anpw@uaa.alaska.edu.

The office aims to be a catalyst for sustainability initiatives across the University, Anchorage and Alaska. The creation of the office can be traced to UAA's signing of the American College and University President's Climate Commitment and the Talloires Declaration, the establishment of the Sustainability Council and the dedication of the faculty, staff and students across UAA.

The office's mission is to make sustainability the cultural norm at the University. The office supports the efforts of students, faculty, staff and administrators to incorporate principles of sustainability in the university's curricula, operations, campus living and its outreach to the broader community. In doing so the office works to integrate social, environmental and economic guidelines into University decisions and will develop partnerships that advance sustainability across the institution.
