2009 Undergraduate Research and Discovery Symposium features Dr. Tyrone Hayes as keynote

The University of Alaska Anchorage University Honors College is pleased to welcome Dr. Tyrone Hayes as its 2009 Undergraduate Research and Discovery Symposium keynote speaker. This evening, April 14, Hayes will give a free lecture entitled, "From Silent Spring to Silent Night: A Tale of Toads and Men." The lecture will take place at 7:30 p.m. in UAA's Fine Arts Building, Room 150.

Dr. Hayes, an award-winning researcher and professor of integrative biology at the University of California, Berkeley, knows what a significant difference undergraduate research can make in the educational experiences of undergraduate students. In his keynote address, he will share his research experiences focusing on the effects of endocrine disrupting pesticides on amphibian growth, development, reproduction and immune function, and how these studies predict effects in other wildlife and humans.

Hayes' visit is part of a multi-day celebration honoring the outstanding research and creative work of undergraduate students at UAA. Featured events include:
