UAA volunteers honored for their work during National Volunteer Week

Recently, Vice Chancellor Bill Spindle presented a letter of commendation to the members of the UAA University Police Department auxiliary volunteers team during their last regular meeting and training session of the academic year. It was our recognition effort as part of National Volunteer Week, which will occur from April 19-25, 2009. This year's theme is "Celebrating People in Action." This special week offers opportunities to thank some of America's most valuable assets, our volunteers, and to recognize the many ways they improve our communities.

Samples of the team's good work will be filmed next week, as a production crew working for Volunteers In Police Service (VIPS) creates a promotional video about police volunteers on American university and college campuses. Give them a pat on the back if you see them! Recognized were Sharon Chamard, Cedar Cussins, Cathy Dunham, Karen E. Haddock, Carolyn Hanthorn, Brenda Henderson, Annie Route, Glenna Schoening, Judi Spry, Orson Smith and Pete Summers.
