Poet Joan Kane presents her new book of poetry, 'The Cormorant Hunter's Wife' on Nov. 17, 2009

Joan Kane is Inupiaq Eskimo, with family from King Island and Mary's Igloo, Alaska. With the assistance of a 2007 Rasmuson Foundation Individual Artist Award, Kane completed her first book of poetry, The Cormorant Hunter's Wife, which she will share with us.

Joan Kane's past achievements include being a former Harvard National Scholar and a recipient of a Columbia University Writing Fellowship. She received the John Haines Award from Ice Floe Press in 2004 and was an Academy of American Poets semi-finalist for the Walt Whitman Award in 2006.
