Suicide prevention training is set for The Commons - Nov. 7, 2009

by Kathleen McCoy  |

Saturday, Nov. 7, 7 p.m. The Commons, Room 107

Suicide is the second leading cause of death for college students. Untreated depression is the number one cause of suicide for all suicides.

Going to college can be a difficult transition period in which students may feel lost, lonely, confused, anxious, inadequate and stressed. And these problems may lead to depression.

Please join us Saturday, Nov. 7 for a free Suicide Prevention training session at 7 p.m. in The Commons, Room 107. Learn what you can do to help prevent suicide. We'll have a comedian, snacks and training for allies against suicide, with a focus on the Gay Lesbian Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) community. This event is sponsored by Out Club. For more information, please contact Rachel Sather at (907) 310-4062.
