UAA Percussion Ensemble fall concert - Dec. 8, 2009

The UAA Percussion Ensemble's exciting Fall Concert will feature seven of South Central Alaska's most dynamic percussionists mixing and blending the sounds of Cuban, Trinidadian and Western percussion instruments into a magical concert of memorable melodies set to the hot grooves of Soca, Mambo, Afro-Cuban 6/8, Rudimental and more. This will be a fun, rhythmically exciting concert not to be missed.

Concert selections will include:

  • Bahia Girl -- a fun steel drum piece from Trinidad arranged for marimba ensemble
  • Mambo Inn -- Tito Puente's famous Mambo hit
  • Hip Hop Deluxe -- body percussion to the max
  • St. Thomas -- an upbeat Calypso penned by tenor sax great Sonny Rollins
  • Dimensions 2 -- a rhythmically exciting piece for orchestral percussion instruments
  • Peach Fuzz -- a dynamic piece for rudimental drum line percussion

The UAA Percussion Ensemble members are Eric Bleicher, Naomi Endres, Catherine Ligouri, Jasmine McQuown, Eiden Pospisil, Tylar Thomas and Julie Webb.
