Development Day 2010 will be May 13; organizers set first planning session for Feb. 19

by Kathleen McCoy  |

Friday, Feb. 19, 12:30 p.m.
University Lake Building, Room 104

This is an opportunity for everyone throughout UAA to assist in making Development Day happen. What can you do? Chair one of the committees or volunteer on Development Day itself, May 13.

If you are a supervisor, encourage your employees to participate. If you know someone who would benefit from learning about planning, organizing and delegating, encourage them to at least check out the opportunities.

We will be meeting at 12:30 in Room 104 of the University Lake Building and serving pizza to all those in attendance.

If you are in Kenai, Kodiak, Mat-Su, Homer or Seward and want to help, please let us know so we can arrange a conference call. If you know you are going to attend, please R.S.V.P. with Steve (907) 786-1425 or Sandy (907) 786-4685. Even if you do not have the opportunity to R.S.V.P., drop by on Friday. We look forward to seeing you.

Here is a poem, provided by the organizing committee, to inspire your participation:

A gathering takes place at UAA every spring, this year it's the 13th of May,
It brings us together where we learn and develop, and OK, even learn how to play,
It's our ongoing commitment, to be teacher and student, to develop as faculty and staff,
To come out more competent, committed, connected, and even to share a good laugh.

We've learned of our mission, green houses and fishing, about health, wealth, wisdom and vision,
About how to serve, get involved and observe, the future, it is now your decision,
What would you like to know, what would you like to show, share your ideas, thoughts and passions,
News from the sun, research on the run, the latest in green and gold fashions.

This is really about all of us here, if you are reading this note you're invited,
For it brings us together from far and near, we come out of this all united,
So help plan the day, will we learn to saute, or learn how to plan out a meeting?
Will we learn to sustain, use more of our brain, or learn a new Yup'ik greeting.

We're having a meeting to start all the planning, will you join us to think this all through?
We're building a team to bring it together, but we're missing one thing, and that's you,
Can you spare some time, give a piece of your mind, volunteer to bring this together?
And by all of us having our own part to play, Development Day gets even better!
