Hip-Hop/spoken word artist Intikana performs 'Penumbra' - Feb. 3, 2011

Intikana ("Instrument of the Sun") is a national award winning hip-hop/spoken word artist, educator and activist from the Bronx, N.Y. He has been featured on VH1 and toured across the United States, Cuba, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru and Colombia while sharing the stage with artists such as KRS-One, Immortal Technique, Talib Kweli, Lupe Fiasco, M1 of Dead Prez, Styles P, Invincible, C-Rayz Walz and Saul Williams.

"Penumbra" (meaning a shadow of a shadow) autobiographically illustrates growing up in the Bronx and powerfully confronts issues concerning family, social injustice and self-identity. This multimedia performance utilizes elements of hip-hop, spoken word, theater, film and photography. Intikana will perform "Penumbra: A One Man Hip-Hop Musical."

This event is free for UAA students taking six credits or more with valid ID and $10 for general public.
