Register now through May 6 for UAA Development Day May 12

Registration continues for UAA Development Day.

Each of you will receive an invitation from the UAA Development Committee today that will take you take through the steps to register for workshops. If you do not receive it, be sure to check your junk mail or contact Steve Hinds at ansph1@uaa.alaska.edu, (907) 786-1425. Registration will close on Friday, May 6 at 5 p.m.

This is the 21st anniversary of Development Day at UAA, a day devoted to personal and professional growth. This year the event will be held on Thursday, May 12.

Workshops planned for this year will teach you about:

• the Alaska Native Claim Settlement Act
• conflicting visions in Alaska Native Education, presented by Father Michael Oleksa
• Emotional intelligence, presented by Dr. Frank Jefferies
• Personal safety, presented by UPD

You can also:

• learn how to put a TV program on the air
• see how you can help prevent injuries to birds
• hear about estate planning
• handle difficult people
• get an introduction to fly fishing
• learn how to provide meaningful recognition to your fellow employees
• how to start a small business
• how to find and utilize grants

You will also be able to take a tour! Options include:

• Planetarium
• Nursing Simulation Lab
• Aviation Complex
• new Health Sciences Building

We will also start off the day with a Tai Chi experience in the Student Union Den.

These are just a few of the over 40 workshops that will be presented this year. You will also have a number of opportunities to get tickets for drawings that will happen in our closing ceremonies.

Bookstore
When you register for your workshops, you will receive an electronic notification along with a 25 percent coupon for the UAA Campus Bookstore. Get your green and gold gear and wear it on Development Day. You will get an extra ticket for the lunch and closing drawers. We have tons of great prizes this year.

Golden Tickets
Do you have a golden ticket? Be on the lookout for these tickets on Development Day. These ticket holders will be a part of a special drawing for a really great prize. There are only 50 of these tickets. See how many you can collect throughout the day.
