UAA gets its first student-run garden

by Jamie Gonzales  |

UAA Sustainability Club Student GardenStudent members of the Sustainability Club and staff at UAA constructed a raised-bed garden and whiskey barrel planters to grow lots of delicious veggies on campus. On May 14, the students planted swiss chard, radishes, spicy salad mix and lettuce. Potatoes, zucchinis, herbs and berry shrubs are growing in the whiskey barrels. The club diligently tends the garden throughout the summer to produce great veggies. At the end of the summer, the Sustainability Club plans to harvest the veggies and invite everyone to a feast.
