Results from a series of victimization surveys have been released over the last month via UAA's Justice Center, covering Anchorage, Fairbanks, Bristol Bay and Juneau. The 2011 surveys were conducted from April to June in partnership with the Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault (CDVSA), along with supplemental funding from the Governor's Choose Respect initiative to end the epidemic of domestic violence and sexual assault in Alaska, the Justice Center blog reports. The series of surveys is part of a multi-year project designed to provide definitive measures of intimate partner violence and sexual violence for Alaska, providing statewide and regional baselines that can be used to support prevention and intervention efforts that reduce violence against women, guide planning and policy development and to evaluate the impact of prevention and intervention services.
