Dear UAA Community:
 
Poster for 2012 Alaska Civil Rights Month at UAA2012 marks UAA's 27th year celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy and Alaska Civil Rights Month. A time to pay tribute and honor civil rights leaders both past and present. On Thursday, Jan. 19, a Commemoration kickoff was held in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and Alaska Civil Rights Month. Please join me in continuing to celebrate this memorable event.

PROCLAMATION
  • WHEREAS, 2012 marks the 26th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. National Holiday and a renewed commitment to community service.
  • WHEREAS, the University of Alaska Anchorage is an educational institution committed to academic excellence and social justice for all of its community of citizens.
  • WHEREAS, on January 19, 2012, UAA constituents will join to honor and pay tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Now, therefore, I, Tom Case, Chancellor of University of Alaska Anchorage, proclaim January 15 through February 16, 2012 as UAA Alaska Civil Rights Month and urge all members of the UAA community to reflect and recognize the courage, humanity, and service Civil Rights Leaders dedicated and continue to dedicate to helping others in society.

Please join me in celebrating our freedom and pledging to make a difference in society.
