2011 Cabin Fever Debates continue Feb. 22

Only two more preliminary rounds remain for this year's Cabin Fever Debates. On Feb. 15, rounds five and six of the competition were held. In round five, the team of "No my name's not short for anything," Rory Redick and Nika Snell took first place, earning an automatic bid to the semifinal round on March 1. Joining team "Debatable" in the semifinal will be the winners of round six (and the defending CFD champions from 2010), "Your friends, the Cosmonauts," Jonathan Stinson and Matthew Stinson.
The Seawolf Debate team is proud to sponsor rounds seven and eight on Feb. 22 at 7 and 8:30 p.m. in SSB 118. The first debate will address the motion, "The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society is justified in its efforts to interfere with Japan's whaling in the Antarctic." Defending the motion in the role of 1st Proposition will be "Team Destiny," Elisha Waugh and Libby Smelker. Closing the debate for the proposition will be team "College Republicans," Ryan McKee and Daniel McDonald. Opening the opposition debate will be "Quad Shot [no whip] Decaf Extra Hot Caramel Macchiato," Anoop Malik and Warren Jones. The 2nd Opposition team will be "The Auditors," Christon Petersen and Leslie Bjorn.
Round eight will feature the teams of: 1st Proposition "Vagabond," Leland Miller and Kyle Benson; 1st Opposition "M n M," Bexley Brown and Djamila Chettfour; 2nd Proposition "Fooly Cooly," Nathan Welker and Josh Bell; and 2nd Opposition "Quiet Riot," Adam Garnett and Justin Collins. They will be debating the motion "Congress should refuse to raise the federal debt limit" at 8:30 p.m.
