Ton in Ten - UAA Parking Services Collects PB&J for Local Food Pantries
by Admin Services |
Each year, the Human Services Club tries to reach a “Ton in Ten”, or 2000 pounds of peanut butter and jelly in just ten days. Parking Services has participated in the “Ton in Ten” drive every year since 2009, allowing patrons to pay for their parking citations with a donation of peanut butter and jelly.
This year, Parking Services achieved a record number of donations, taking in 1,975 pounds of PB&J! Over 1,100 jars of PB &J were collected and will be distributed by the Human Services Club to local food charities such as the UAA Food Cache.
Each year, the UAA department that brings in the most peanut butter and jelly receives the honor of displaying the coveted “Peanut Butter Cup” trophy. The trophy is placed on display once the food is distributed, usually the week of Thanksgiving. Parking Services last won the trophy in 2010, and looks forward to displaying the trophy once again for this year’s donations.
