AI Webinar Series - Part 10: Designing AI to Bridge Pixels, Predictions & Precision
Medicine.
CBPP Hosted 10th AI Series Event Featuring Dr. Satish Viswanath The College of Business and Public Policy (CBPP) hosted the 10th installment of its AI Series on November 5, 2025, featuring Dr. Satish Viswanath, associate professor at Emory University, who presented “The Case of the Hidden Signatures: Designing Imaging AI to Bridge Patterns, Predictions, and Precision Medicine.”
Dr. Viswanath’s groundbreaking work explores the next frontier of imaging
AI—advancing beyond diagnosis to more precise, personalized treatment decisions. His
presentation inspired engaging discussion about the evolving collaboration between
human intelligence and artificial intelligence, and how “cooperative AI systems” can
enhance innovation across disciplines.
The event drew strong interest from both the UAA community and beyond, with more than
125 participants registered to attend in person and online. An on-demand replay will
soon be available to continue raising awareness and supporting education on
the advancements and real-world impact of AI.
Ky Holland, a member of the Alaska House of Representatives representing District
9, shared his appreciation for the program’s reach and importance: “These events are essential opportunities for students, teaching and research faculty,
and administration to learn about trends and opportunities in emerging areas that
are poised to transform our future, locally and globally. I particularly appreciate
the outreach and inclusion of the community and their opportunity to share in the
flow of information and discussion generated by the examples and work being done in
other institutions and cross-disciplinary fields that will cross over into the challenges
and opportunities in Alaska.”
He also noted the broader relevance of Dr. Viswanath’s work, extending beyond medicine
to Alaska’s industries and infrastructure:
“This work is highly relevant and valuable for both medical work as discussed, and
for our economy in areas like non-destructive testing and corrosion inspection—methods
that will be important for future projects such as pipeline development.”
Dr. Terry Nelson, Interim Dean of the College of Business and Public Policy, reflected on the milestone event: “We were honored to host Dr. Viswanath as part of this landmark 10th installment of the AI Series. His insights into imaging AI and its applications underscore the importance of cross-disciplinary collaboration and innovation. At CBPP, we remain committed to fostering learning and research that not only advances technology but also supports the future needs of Alaska’s workforce and industries.”
Established and led by Dr. Helena Wisniewski, the AI Series continues to position
CBPP as a leader in AI research, education, and public engagement—fostering collaboration
among academia, industry, and government. This milestone event underscores CBPP’s
growing reputation as a hub for innovation, data science, and real-world impact in
Alaska and beyond.
This in-person event was held at the UAA Consortium Library and was also available via Zoom.
Please stay tuned for On-Demand options to hear directly from an expert at the forefront of this exciting field and to learn how imaging AI is shaping the future of healthcare.
