Dean's Holiday message

snowflake

While I know that most of you are deeply immersed in studying for finals, I wanted to take a moment to wish you Happy Holidays, and give you some good news about what’s going on at your College of Engineering.

As you may know, earlier this year, Engineering was one of the first to undergo the Strategic Pathways process with an eye towards adapting to the State’s fiscal challenges.  UAA’s College of Engineering came through that process with flying colors, resulting in a recommendation of support for our College and continuing the educational programs it provides in Anchorage.  UA President Johnsen clearly recognized the importance of maintaining our strong program here at UAA to help meet the increasing demand for well-educated engineers and related professionals in Alaska.

I am pleased and proud you have chosen our College of Engineering for your educational journey, and are able to take advantage of the new and newly renovated engineering buildings, engaged faculty, research opportunities and supportive community that we offer.  We are continually seeking better ways to meet your needs, and my door is always open to hear from you.

Wishing you good luck on your finals, happy holidays and a restorative winter break.  I’ll look forward to seeing you here on campus next year!

Fred Barlow, Ph.D. | Dean, College of Engineering
