Aging in Anchorage: A Service-Learning Undergraduate Project to Assess Community Needs

In order to learn more about service availability in Anchorage, the gaps in these services, and the services required by aging members of the community, an ethnographic approach is being utlitized through collaboration with the Anchorage Aging & Disability Resource Center.

Katie Davis, an undergraduate student in Health Sciences, conducted an honors thesis project needs assessment through participant observation, survey creation, and data collection (telephone interviews). Davis presented this research at the Alaska Evaluation Network Conference and the UAA Center for Community Engagement & Learning (CCEL) poster forum (both in April 2019).
