MPH Requirements

Application Process for the Master of Public Health (MPH) Practice and Graduate Certificate (GC) in Public Health Programs

March 1 is the early admission deadline for fall admissions. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis after this date but not later than July 1. All applicants will be notified of acceptance for fall admissions by August 1.

October 1 is the early admission deadline for spring admissions. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis after this date but not later than December 1. All applicants will be notified of acceptance for spring admissions by January 1.

MPH Program

In addition to the UAA application, all applicants to the Master of Public Health (MPH) in Public Health Practice program must also complete an application through the SOPHAS centralized application service. Applicants to the Graduate Certificate program only need to apply through UAA. Please reach out to the UAA MPH Program for more details.

Graduate Certificate

Applicants to the Graduate Certificate in Public Health do not need to apply through SOPHAS. Instead they can apply directly through UAA (click “apply now” below). Please reach out to the UAA MPH Program for more details.

Please note that Graduate Certificate applicants do not need to complete the essay prompt or personal statement.

Application Components (Only for MPH Program)

  1. Submit an essay in response to the following prompt: Identify a major public health challenge in your community, describe its extent, and discuss one to two evidence-based solutions to address this challenge. Essays must be no more than 2 double-spaced pages long, be typed using 11 or 12-point font, and include citations and references. The list of references does not count in the page limitations.
  2.  Submit a personal statement explaining how and why obtaining the MPH in Public Health Practice would contribute to the student's career goals. The personal statement must be no more than 2 double-spaced pages long and typed using 11 or 12-point font.
  3. Provide a current resume or curriculum vitae (CV).
  4. Official transcripts from all institutions of higher learning.
